Bareburger has made the move from Second Avenue in the East Village to 173 Orchard St.
According to EV Grieve, the organic burger spot is in soft open mode today, with a grand opening expected tomorrow (Friday).
The chain started in Astoria and now has more than 40 locations worldwide. Matt Kouskalis, who operates several Bareburger outposts in the city, told EV Grieve that the move was prompted by escalating rents in the East Village. The restaurant had been located at 85 Second Avenue for six years.
Bareburger is situated between the newly opened Una Pizza Napoletano and Rosario’s Pizza. In February, Community Board 3 offered its support for a wine license with operating hours 11 a.m.-midnight on weekdays and 11 a.m.-2 a.m. on weekends.. According to the State Liquor Authority’s database, that license is still pending. Bareburger replaces A Casa Fox, a Latin restaurant that closed last year after nine years in business (A Casa Fox still runs a catering business).
