Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebrations In Chinatown Sunday

On Sunday, the Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Festival makes its return to Chinatown. It takes place on Mott Street between noon and 4 p.m. You can see a complete performance schedule on the Chinatown Partnership’s Facebook page.

Also on Sunday, State Assembly member Yuh-Line Niou is hosting an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration at Confucius Plaza. There will be family activities, food vendors and entertainment. There will also be an awards ceremony acknowledging the contributions of several people who have served the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.

Among the honorees are: Wen Zhou, CEO of fashion house Phillip Lim 3.1; Sherry Chan, New York City’s chief actuary; Jiayang Fan, a writer for The New Yorker; and in memoriam, Ricky Leung, a well-known Chinatown/Two Bridges leader who died earlier this year.

The event will take place between noon and 3 p.m. in Confucius Plaza, 33 Bowery
