At the request of District 1’s Community Education Council, a “Know Your Rights” immigration session will be held at P.S. 20 Wednesday evening. April 25. The event, sponsored by Congresswomen Nydia Velazquez and Carolyn Maloney, will cover a wide range of topics including deportation, citizenship, asylum and DACA.
The CEC asked the elected officials to schedule the workshop after it became known that a family on the Lower East Side chose not to come forward about an incident at a school out of concern for their immigration status.
Services will be available in English, Spanish and Chinese. P.S. 20 is located at 166 Essex St.
