Here’s a welcome sight. After months of construction, work crews have removed the sidewalk shed on the east side of Clinton Street, between Broome and Delancey streets.
This means we now have a clear view of the ground level storefronts at 175 Delancey St., otherwise known as site 6 of Essex Crossing. The building will include 99 rental apartments for low-income seniors, a 55,000 square foot medical facility from NYU Langone and a social enterprise cafe and separate senior center run by Grand Street Settlement.
There are four Essex Crossing sites now under construction. The first phase of the large residential and commercial project is scheduled to debut next year (a mid-fall opening is anticipated for the site 6 building). The sidewalk remains completely blocked on the west side of Clinton Street, between Grand and Broome streets.
As for that cafe at 175 Delancey St., Grand Street Settlement just posted a job listing for a cafe manager. The “GrandLo” Cafe will be run, in part, as a youth training program. You can see the listing here.
