A Brooklyn man has been sentenced to 23 1/2 years in prison for beating and stabbing his ex-girlfriend inside her apartment at the Vladeck Houses in 2015.

39-year-old Brian Quattrocchi was found guilty by a state jury this past March of attempted murder and kidnapping, as well as assault. In a statement, New York City District Attorney Cy Vance said, “Brian Quattrocchi’s years of inflicting physical, mental, and emotional abuse on his ex-girlfriend culminated in this vicious and terrifying attack. It easily could have turned fatal, if not for the bravery of the heroic responding NYPD officers.”

On Jan. 27 of 2015, police responded to a domestic violence call at 338 Madison St. They burst into an apartment where Quattrocchi was holding a kitchen knife to Olga Pichardo’s throat. He began slashing her and ignored orders to drop the knife. That’s when a police officer fired five rounds at Quattrocchi, hitting him in the torso.

Quattrocchi had attacked Pichardo on at least one occasion in the weeks before the bloody incident in her apartment.
