Schiller’s Liquor Bar is Closing in August (Updated)

Schiller’s Liquor Bar, a fixture on Rivington Street for 14 years, is closing in August. An email blast went out today from the restaurant, according to Eater, which reported the news a short time ago.

Restauranteur Keith McNally says Schiller’s has reached the end of its lease. In an interview last year, McNally said the Lower East Side outpost is not a money maker but a personal favorite in his food/nightlife empire just the same.

UPDATE 5/16: McNally’s daughter, Sophie, told Eater that the landlord offered a new lease but the rent was too high. “We simply cannot afford it,” she said.
