The American Civil Liberties Union is, of course, on the front lines of the legal battle against the Trump administration’s policies on a wide range of issues, including immigration, the environment, abortion rights and free speech rights. Two local residents, husband and wife Julie and David Sonenberg, wanted to do something to help the ACLU fulfill its mission.
They’re hosting a fundraiser this coming Sunday at Saluggi’s, the Grand Street restaurant. There will be a raffle with items donated from local businesses and 10% of the food and drink proceeds will go to the ACLU. There will also be shuffleboard and other games.
Among the items to be raffled: An Essex Street Market gift basket; gift certificates from Yaf Sparkle, Malt & Mold and Tictail; a three month membership to Manny Cantor Center Fitness; and a half-gallon of pickles from the Pickle Guys.
The event takes place Sunday from 5-9 p.m. at Saluggi’s, 399 Grand St. Here’s the Facebook Invite.
