In the past few days, a coffee and wine bar called River Coyote opened at 121 Ludlow St. It’s owned by Jay Nir, who according to a press release, brings an “eclectic career path of DJ-ing, real estate, restructuring night clubs, hotel consulting and hosting private events” to the new Lower East Side business.
The beans come from Nobletree Coffee in Red Hook. In the former home of Amuse Wine Bar, Nir has installed a “custom-built triple fridge draught system,” with 16 wines on tap. He’s also stocking regional craft beers, cider, cold-brew and kombucha on draft.
River Coyote offers pastries and snacks in the afternoon, including cheeses from Saxelby Cheesmongers in the Essex Street Market. In the evening, menu items include branzino ceviche, tempura broccolini, homemade gnocchi and lamb chuzo (Ecuadorian skewers).
The restaurant is open from 8 a.m. to midnight (2 a.m. on weekends). More info on River Coyote’s website.
