Historian and author Tyler Anbinder (The Five Points) will be discussing his new book, City of Dreams: The 400-Year Epic History of Immigrant New York, this Wednesday at the Tenement Museum’s event series, Tenement Talks.
In the book, Anbinder puts the immigrant experience at the center of the growth and development of New York City. By tracing the history of the city’s immigrant groups back 400 years he illustrates that the same fears that dominate 21st-century debates on immigration were alive and well in earlier eras. Publishers Weekly glowingly reviewed the book here.
Tyler Anbinder will be in conversation with Pulitzer Prize nominated author Suketu Mehta on Wednesday, October 19th at the Tenement Museum from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Seating for this FREE event is first-come, first-served. Doors open at 6 p.m. Books will be for sale with a 15% discount.
