The Lower East Side outpost of Pies ‘n’ Thighs is calling it quits. Co-owner Carolyn Bane told Eater that the restaurant specializing in fried chicken and other comfort food classics would be closing this week.
Pies ‘n’ Thighs has been a huge success in Williamsburg for a decade. When Bane and partner Sarah Sanneh opened the Canal Street offshoot at 43 Canal St. in February of 2015, they hoped to recreate the magic in an up-and-coming area. But it didn’t work out.
Bane said today: “It’s emotional for us because we love the neighborhood, our staff and all the regulars, but a true Pies is a great hang and we never quite achieved that in this spot. We’ve been very fortunate at our Williamsburg location to be a homegrown neighborhood spot for 10 years (!) and we hope to see all our Canal friends there very soon!”
