Thanks to Lo-Down reader Dolores Schaefer for sending along info about this annual exhibit on gun violence from St. Mark’s Church in-the-Bowery. She notes:
“St. Mark’s Church in-the-Bowery on Second Ave. & 10th St. is raising awareness of gun violence with a display of 100 crosses draped with t-shirts bearing the names of young New Yorkers killed by gun violence in the past year, along with signs along its fence giving statistics on the numbers killed.”
This is the third year the church has put up the t-shirts on the crosses. The Village Voice spoke with the church’s Reverend Winnie Varghese about bringing awareness to gun violence during Holy Week in a story (here) last year.
