Another Lower east Side business is giving up its brick-and-mortar location. Sydney Pringle will close The Little Shoe Store at 40 Clinton St. at the end of March.
The shop, specializing in “grown up shoes for petite feet” opened on Orchard Street in 2013 before moving to the current location on Clinton between Rivington and Stanton streets. Here’s the announcement from the shop’s Facebook page:
I want to let you know that The Little Shoe Store will be moving to an online only platform this spring. Yes, the brick and mortar store will be closing… The good is that I will be able to reduce my overhead and offer even more options – sandals! flats! heels! The sad is I won’t see your lovely faces on a regular basis. I will keep you apprised of the details…and know that there are bargains to be had in store so please come see me.
The other day, Pringle told us that foot traffic has never been spectacular on Clinton Street, but things have gotten noticeably worse since crews started building a luxury condo project next door at 50 Clinton St. Pringle has lived in New York for more than 20 years. She’s planning to move out of the city.
But as her message indicates, there are lots of bargains to be had. The store closes March 31. Meanwhile Tower Brokerage has listed the tiny space (250 sq. ft.) for $2800/month. That’s $134/sq. ft.
