Arts Watch: A Mashup of Downtown “Frankophiles” to Celebrate Sinatra’s 100th

Let Me Be Frank

A gaggle of downtown “Frankophiles” will be celebrating Old Blue Eyes’ 100th birthday, for one night only, with song and dance and a backup band at The Club at La Mama on Monday evening.

Performers will include downtown tap dancers and singers; AC Cowings, Nick Drakides, Deanna Kirk, Hank Smith, Ann Amendolagine, Rod Ferrone, Brenda Bufalinoa and a special appearance by LaMaMa’s own Nicky Paraiso, among others.

The Let Me Be Frank band is led by Bernice “Boom Boom” Brooks on drums with Marcus Mclaurine on bass, Ayako Shirasaki on piano and Debra Kreisberg on sax.

The evening will be hosted by Laraine “Tapz” Goodman, of Downtown’s “Club 124” and Robin “The Organizer” Schatell (also a Lo-Down contributor).
