Happening Today: Bus Battles, Nilaja Sun at Abrons, Punk Rock Era Revisited

Here are some of the events happening on the Lower East Side today:

–Community Board 3’s Transportation Committee meets at 6:30 p.m. in the community room at The Lee, 133 Pitt St. Topics to be discussed: a proposed intercity bus stop at 125 East Broadway, a loading zone on Clinton Street at Stanton Street and an update on the Division Street improvement plan.

Community Board 3’s Arts & Cultural Subcommittee meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Theater for the New City, 155 1st Avenue. Among the agenda items: Information about the City School of the Arts, a new charter school; and Mark DeGarmo will have a presentation about the MoveUP !Dance Academy.

–At 8 p.m., award winning playwright and actress Nilaja Sun debuts her new play, Pike St., at the Abrons Arts Center. Click here for ticket info.

–At 6:30 p.m., photographer Marcia Resnick and writer Victor Bockris will hold a reading and slide show for their book, Punks, Poets and Provocateurs: New York City BAD BOYS * 1977 – 1982. Howl Happening, 6 East 1st St.

Cake Shop Comedy is back. The weekly event kicks off at 8:30 p.m. 152 Ludlow St., free.
