A local group will be celebrating its annual L.E.S. Bands Musical Reunion at the East River Park bandshell August 29. More details from L.E.S Creative People in Action:

The kickoff starts with T-Ski Valley, known for his immortal party anthem, “Catch the Beat,” recorded on Grand Groove Records. Showtime is from 2:00pm-6:00pm… L.E.S. Creative People In Action, Inc. provides a platform for local, and up-and-coming urban musicians while uplifting the economically-challenged families living in the area through the harmony of music. It was launched in 2008 by four friends who grew up in the housing projects of the Lower East Side (Gregory Mitchell, Darcel Kennedy, Robert Mitchell and Michael Steele), who pooled their experiences together for promoting singers and musicians.

The event is supported, in part, through a grant from City Council member Margaret Chin. Here’s the Facebook invite for more info.
