The city’s Department of Transportation (DOT) has denied an application from Yep Tours, an intercity bus company, for a designated bus stop at 132 Madison St. Community Board 3 was notified of the decision by Luis Sanchez, DOT’s Lower Manhattan borough commissioner.
CB3 voted against the application earlier in the summer, citing Yep Tours’ illegal operations at another location, on Pike Street at East Broadway. The company has had a longstanding practice of using the curb area to load and unload passengers. State law requires intercity bus companies to operate only from approved locations. Members of CB3’s transportation committee said it would be wrong to approve the Madison Street application when Yep has repeatedly violated the law.
