Sponsored Post: Meet Ni Japanese

Must Read

The Essex Street Market is a Lower East Side staple when it comes to fresh food and prepared goods. Meet the vendors in this profile series and swing by the market all month long during May to celebrate 75 years of Essex Street Market.

Co-Owner, Atsushi Numata

We heard about this place opening up so we took the chance. This is the first time I’ve had my own business, it’s been going really good. I do home-style authentic Japanese with my own little twist.

I live in the neighborhood, it’s home. My daughter, who is four, grew up in the market. The Lower East Side and Essex have an attractive mix of cultures. People down here are open to new things.

I do all the cooking here and cook seasonal dishes so I don’t get bored. When I’m not bored my customers are not bored. I feel great when I come to work.
