Why did you start the fish market in Essex Street Market?
Jae Duk Suh started the business. He wanted to be in the market because of a better opportunity to provide for his family.
What is your favorite memory at the market?
My happiest memories are of the daily interactions with my customers and forming long-lasting bonds, which I still have today.
What is New Star Fish’s specialty?
We are known for fresh seafood and a wide selection of products. Best quality seafood around.
What is your favorite time of the week at the market and why?
Friday and Saturday because this is when the business is busiest.
Do you source any products from within the market?
No, but we do get our lunch from neighboring vendors and we buy our groceries here for meal prep at home.
Do you have any “fun facts” about your business?
About 10 years ago, AT&T used our store as the set for a Super Bowl commercial!
