Community Board 3 and the Lower East Side BID are organizing a fundraiser for the small businesses impacted by the 2nd Avenue disaster. “Orchard Street Loves 2nd Avenue” will be held Wednesday, May 27 from 7-10 p.m. at Lucky Jacks’s, 129 Orchard St. There will be goodies from Orchard Street restaurants plus a raffle and a complementary first drink to get things started. The cost is $20.
A couple of updates regarding East Village businesses. First, B&H Dairy hoped to reopen within days but just got the bad news that they need a new fire suppression system. This means the reopening will be pushed back at least three weeks. The owners have now gone on Kiva Zip, a crowdfunding site for small business loans. You can join their campaign here. And some better news: Enz’s boutique at 125 2nd Avenue has now reopened. You can read more about both stories from EV Grieve here and here.
