Your mid-week Lower East Side food notes:

Just in time for Cinco de Mayo, the lounge under Essex Street restaurant Tijuana Picnic will be open for business. According to Eater,  Tico’s Tequila Bar will feature 70 tequilas and 30 mezcals. There will be a DJ most nights.

Mission Cantina $1 tacos are back until 6 p.m. Hurry! Hurry!

Here’s the menu for La Gamelle, Mathieu Palombino’s new French brasserie opening on the Bowery tonight.

The New York Times reports that John Stevenson, most recently chef at the Russ & Daughters Cafe, is taking over the kitchen at the troubled Tavern on the Green.
