WD50 may be long gone from the Lower East Side but Wylie Dufresne’s dad looks to be making a comeback on the block his son made famous as a fine food destination. New York Magazine confirms what locals have been chattering about for a few months — Dewey Dufresne is getting ready to open a sandwich shop at 37-39 Clinton St.

It will be called BYGGYZ and will operate out of 37-39 Clinton St., the former home of John’s Deli. A late April opening is anticipated. There will be about a dozen sandwiches in the 20 seat shop.  The signature offering will be the Byggybeef (braised short-rib; American cheese; “XO-llent” sauce; pickled fennel, carrots, and cabbage).

More details from Grub Street here. Wylie Dufresne shut down his restaurant at 50 Clinton St. late last year to make way for a new luxury condo project.
