IF there are different sets of rules for different types of owners and a refusal to apply the law to tenants as well as to landlords, then we still have a very biased government and probably a very intimidating one because the developers and the so called real estate industry groups have a clear position but won’t take their best shot. I mean, even a big developer like Mr. Litwin who balked at having to pay Sheldon Silver had to give in in the end. It’s not nice. And the government seems to not be taking responsibility for the fact that they are not fair. We don’t have income based rent stabilization and rent control like NYCHA and we can’t ask for ID and we have to give automatic succession when misconduct is simply dismissed if they don’t “do it again” and move on to doing something new but also awful. I have to recycle broken glass and cream cheese smeared booze bottle – because we get penalized if we don’t have perfectly separated garbage – how would Mayor De Blasio (with all due respect) like it if these were YOUR tenants??
Have mercy and Just be FAIR.
