A couple of notes regarding neighborhood education issues this afternoon. First, there’s a public hearing tomorrow night regarding the renewal and expansion of Manhattan Charter School in a building at 100 Attorney St. The elementary school is seeking to add middle school grades, eventually growing to 555 seats for students in grades K-8. The charter shares space with P.S. 142. The meeting begins at 6:15. You can sign up to speak starting at 5:45.
Second, the Department of Education has started outreach for people interested in running for positions on the city’s community education councils. Applications open Feb. 11. A series of informational meetings for prospective applicants begins later this month. For more details, click here.
