Taking place today through Sunday, October 12th, the massive CBGB Festival presents music, films, industry talks and special events at a variety of venues throughout New York City, including many on the Lower East Side.
The CBGB Gallery at Center548, is showcasing photographs of the musicians who gave CBGB & OMFUG their original names, allowing visitors to “peek into the past life of CBGB.”
The CBGB Gallery show highlights the ‘birthplace of punk’ and features artists ranging from the former CBGB door man, to some of the most well-known and respected photographers in the music industry today. Artists on display include: GODLIS, Andy Shernoff, Paul Kostabi, Ebet Roberts, Roberta Bayley, Michael Lavine, and Gina LeVay.
Covering the birth years of the punk rock and new wave movements up to the current decade, their photography and paintings highlight the culture of CBGB in its various stages.
