We don’t usually consider new signage newsworthy, but there are always exceptions to the rule. This afternoon, the Comfort Diner is making its presence known at 399 Grand St. The long-awaited opening is just days away. Owner Ira Freehof is telling passersby today that the restaurant will be in soft-open mode by the end of the week.
Freehof has hired a chef, Jim Moran, who most recently worked as executive sous chef at “The Palm” in Tribeca.
The Comfort Diner has operated in Midtown for the better part of two decades. The Lower east Side space was formerly home to Noah’s Ark Deli.
