There was a bit of excitement yesterday at the historic Jarmulowsky Bank building, which is undergoing a boutique hotel conversion. Some of the bricks on the south side of the building at 54 Canal St. became dislodged and fell onto the scaffolding above the adjacent property, a commercial building at 2 Allen St. Ron Castellano, the architect overseeing the painstaking restoration of the 12-story 1912 landmark, says all of the debris was confined to the scaffolding. Some of the scaffold supports were compromised, so as a precaution, the fire department evacuated some adjacent buildings while repairs were made. Castellano said repairs should be completed in two or three days. At the time of the mishap, workers were rebuilding the south parapet.
