Anti-Bullying Mural Debuts Tomorrow as Part of ALBOR, Healthfirst, NY Arts Cypher Contest

Lower East Side street artist Chico was hard at work yesterday afternoon in the school yard at Rivington and Norfolk streets. His mural at Marta Valle High School is the culmination of a an anti-bullying contest involving three LES settlement houses. The program is sponsored by the Association of Latino Business Owners & Residents (ALBOR, Healthfirst and NY Arts Cypher.

Kids in the after school programs at Henry Street Settlement, University Settlement and Grand Street Settlement submitted drawings, poems, essays and original music expressing their feelings about bullying.  Chico’s mural is a representation of the winning entries.  The nine winners are also receiving cash prizes.

The finished mural will be unveiled in community celebration tomorrow At 1 p.m.
