We’re back from the Memorial Day break with a round-up of restaurant and nightlife news.

- In case you missed our exclusive story last week, Emma Hearst and Sarah Krathen have closed their six-year-old Italian restaurant on Allen Street. Tomorrow afternoon, auctioneers will sell off the furnishings and equipment, including the lighting by Brooklyn artist David Weeks and the gelato-making tools from the also-closed Stellina offshoot next door; details here.
- Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream, the new parlor from El Rey’s Nick Morgenstern, opened Friday at 2 Rivington St., serving “texture-driven small-batch ice cream,” including five varieties of vanilla. Grub Street dishes the scoop.
- From The Lo-Down inbox: Fung Tu is now serving brunch on Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
- The NYT takes a detailed look at the downtown restaurant empire of Peter Poulakakos, the “quiet titan” whose holdings are so large and diverse that his upcoming project at 146 Bowery doesn’t even merit a mention.
