A new daycare center and nursery school called All My Children is preparing to take over a 6,000 square foot space at 112 Ridge St., near Rivington St. The facility was previously occupied by another daycare facility, Sunny Skies Preschool. Today, the former tenant’s furniture was being moved out of the building.
All My Children has numerous locations in Queens and Brooklyn. The Lower East Side center will be the company’s first in Manhattan. A news release from Eastern Consolidated, a commercial real estate firm, suggested that the new lease is part of a trend triggered by Mayor de Blasio’s free Pre-K initiative. Buildings throughout the city, especially those that carry special “community facility” zoning designations, are suddenly in great demand.
The new location will include a 1,000 square foot secure outdoor play area. The asking rent was around $50/square foot.
