Some midweek food news:
- Cochinita Dos, the LES outpost of a popular Clinton Hill taco restaurant, is hiring staff this week. Applicants should apply in person at 49 Canal St., according to a sign posted on the door (see above).
- It’s a mini-farm, it’s a pop-up restaurant: Made in the LES is transforming the old home of Noah’s Ark Deli at 399 Grand St. with a series of projects and events for a couple of weeks, prior to new tenant Comfort Diner moving in. Hydroponically grown vegetables and other indoor farm projects are on display for the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, through April 28. Tomorrow night, Los Perros Locos owner Alex Mitow kicks off four nights of dinners and parties in the space.
- The Grand Street Settlement’s annual fundraiser, the Taste of the Lower East Side, happens April 24. Though the event takes place on Mercer Street, most of the food is supplied by neighborhood restaurants. General admission tickets are $195, with proceeds funding the nonprofit’s educational initiatives.
- Though its former home on Orchard Street is shuttered (and for rent to a new tenant), Mission Chinese Food lives on for one night tonight, as a pop-up at Frankie’s 457.
