The Daily News reports tonight that William Rapfogel will plead guilty tomorrow in the Met Council embezzlement case.  According to the report, he has accepted a plea deal with the state attorney general and faces anywhere from 3-10 years in prison. The deal also reportedly requires him to pay $3 million in restitution.

Last summer, Rapfogel was accused of orchestrating a scheme to defraud the high profile social services agency of $7 million.  The question throughout the scandal has been whether the investigation would touch his longtime friend, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, and his wife, Judy Rapfogel, Silver’s chief of staff.  A resolution was widely expected following Passover, which ended tonight.

The News reports that David Cohen, Rapfogel’s predecessor as head of the Met Council, will also plead guilty tomorrow. Rapfogel, who lives in the Grand Street Cooperatives, is a longtime Lower East Side power broker.
