Here’s news that people who live on the eastern end of Grand Street, where there aren’t many commercial food establishments, are going to likely love. The owners of Ost Coffee on East 12th Street are opening up a new coffee shop at 511 Grand St (near Columbia St.). At one time a Chinese restaurant, Wing Hing, was on the ground floor of the building but the retail space has been vacant for quite awhile.
In 2011, artists Inka Essenhigh and Stephen Mumford purchased the townhouse, which is a city landmark. One of the partners in the new shop is Alex Clark, who’s also involved with Eastwood, the bar on East Broadway (you can find him behind the bar from time to time). Grub Street reported today that the business, serving Intelligentsia coffee and Eastern-European pastries” would be open by Saturday at the latest.
So excited!!
