The Fridge Art Fair is coming back to the Lower East Side this spring. From the press release:
Fridge Art Fair is pleased to announce that it will once again feature a small group of selected galleries and artists on Manhattan’s Lower East Side May 7-11, during Frieze New York Art Fair Week 2014. The “Ice Cream Edition” will be hosted by, and presented in collaboration with the Angel Orensanz Foundation at their Center for the Arts, 172 Norfolk Street, a historic and beautiful building well known on the cultural and social scenes in New York City. Inviting and challenging presenters to create a unique visual experience in an intimate environment, Fridge is the brainchild of artist Eric Ginsburg. Well known for his soulful and painterly portrayals of dogs (and now cats!), Ginsburg is also passionate about the fair, stating, “Creativity and genuineness will be on display from galleries and artists, in all media and price ranges.” As for the inevitable surprises his approach encourages, he adds, “It is the fun that is the key!” Guided by his spirit, Fridge’s New York and Miami debuts attracted quality dealers, collectives and artists working outside the high-end and vanity exhibition scenes. For this edition, Ginsburg is joined in organizing and envisioning the fair by two participants in past fairs. New York artist, art journalist (Revolt Magazine, Huffington Post) and curator Linda DiGusta will support Eric in programming special presentations and presenting the fair. The editor of StreetArtNYC, Lois Stavsky is an educator, curator and writer with a particular passion for global street art. She has contributed to over a dozen books on the topic and also lectures on the topic in NYC and abroad, and will be curator of a special gallery within the fair. Participants will include the Centre-fuge Public Art Project and more artists to be announced…
