Swoon Takes Over Bowery Wall – Phase 1

Must Read

Brooklyn based artist Swoon is taking her turn to be in the spotlight on the Bowery Wall. Contributor Tim Schreier caught “Phase 1” of the mural taking shape.

(So far she has not painted over the “signatures” from some random taggers that appeared last night.)

Along with her amazing wheatpaste street art, Swoon does large scale sculpture and cut out installations that have been featured around the world. Her intricate work often depicts her friends and family, but is inspired by both historical art and folk influences, ranging from German Expressionist wood block prints to Indonesian shadow puppets. Her work tends to unfold itself the more time you spend with it so make sure to stop by (Houston and Bowery) for a good long gaze.
