Must Read

Jake Dell, the man in charge at Katz’s Deli, sent along word yesterday afternoon that the Ludlow Street institution would be launching a pop-up gallery space.

Here’s the text of his email to media outlets:

As a continued part of our 125th Anniversary celebration, Katz’s Delicatessen is proud to introduce The Space, a pop-up gallery and apparel shop. Every month we will introduce a new rotation of talented artists and designers that will fill the location with deli-inspired pieces. In this way, The Space will serve as a tribute not just to the restaurant’s past and present connection to the neighborhood, but to the people who continue to live, work, and create art in all its forms right here on the Lower East Side. Official launch party is set for October 22nd, 7pm – 10pm. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date on all the latest news associated with The Space at Katz’s Deli, including announcements about upcoming artists and designers.

On Twitter, you can keep tabs on the project at @katzsdeli.  The deli’s Facebook page is here.  The pop-up will make use of a space on East Houston Street adjacent to Katz’s main dining room, which was most recently home to Tim Horton’s.
