A go-to spot for cheap eats below Grand Street has been closed this week.

“Homemade Dumpling” at 27 Essex St. (better known as China North Dumpling), was shuttered by the city’s Health Department on Monday. An inspector cited the following violations: evidence of mice, food stored at improper temperatures, roaches present in food handling areas and flies found in the restaurant. The dumpling shop racked up 46 violation points; it only had 13 points in the most recent inspection back in March.
This afternoon, restaurant staff said they planned to reopen tomorrow morning.
