Supporters of Children’s Magical Garden will gather this afternoon to celebrate the city’s decision to preserve the green space as a community garden. Everyone is invited to the garden at the corner of Norfolk and Stanton streets from 4 to 7:30 p.m. to take part in the event, which includes food, music and art-making.
Here are some details from the organizers:
Come out to Celebrate the Children’s Magical Garden becoming part of the Parks’s Department and to build momentum to save our whole garden.Let’s keep the momentum building to save our whole garden, including the lot claimed by the developer. Let’s do it with dance! music! art! planting!
[UPDATE, 1:30 P.M.] Garden members preparing for this afternoon’s party are reporting that developer Serge Hoyda has just sent workers to construct a plywood fence around the section of the garden he owns, which is about a third of the space. We’ll have more information later this afternoon.
