The New York City Health Department closed Shalom Chai Pizza, the kosher restaurant at 357 Grand Street. The inspection details that resulted in the move are not yet available online but a notice from the DOH indicates the business was ordered closed today. Shalom Chai was last inspected February 14, and received 43 violation points.
Among the items cited in that report: “the presence of mice or live mice,” “personal cleanliness inadequate” and “facility not vermin proof.” This is not the restaurant’s first run-in with the Health Department. In May of last year, it was shuttered after receiving 75 violation points.
Good riddens! This place has been filthy for years. I was scared away ages ago.
