Marco Polo Festival Events Kick Off Tomorrow

This week two Lower Manhattan communities – Chinatown and Little Italy – will be celebrating the fourth annual Marco Polo Festival.  The event, created alongside the Chinatown and Little Italy Historic District, kicks off tomorrow with a special presentation at the Museum of Chinese in America.

The Marco Polo History Colloquium will take place at the museum, 215 Centre Street, at 6 p.m. Panelists discussing immigration issues include historian and museum co-founder John Kuo Wei Tchen and sociologist Dr. Jerome Krase.  The panel will be moderated by architectural historian Kerri Culhane of the Two Bridges Neighborhood Council.

This week’s events lead up to Saturday’s Marco Polo Festival Pageant and cultural festivities on Mott Street (continuing to Hester Street), beginning at 11 a.m.  Click here for more info.
