A new pizza shop is in the works at 181 East Broadway, across the street from Seward Park and just a few steps from 169 Bar. It’s being opened by the owners of Stanton Pizza at 127 Stanton Street. John Junkovic, who’s listed in Buildings Department records as the owner of the new business, once owned Va Bene Pizza at 201 Clinton Street. That location, just a stone’s throw from the new East Broadway spot, is now known as Cowboy Pizza. The team behind Pushcart Coffee, 221 East Broadway, bought Va Bene (not from Junkovic – but from an intermediate owner) several months ago and totally remodeled and renamed it. Got that? The new pizza shop is expected to open around the middle of next month.
