Parents Launch Fundraising Campaign to Save Neighborhood School Library

Must Read

Our friend Marjorie Ingall is trying to get the word out about a grassroots campaign to save the Neighborhood School’s Library. Due to Department of Education budget cuts, parents have no choice to raise $40,000 by the end of June, if the library is to be salvaged.  The school, located on East 3rd Street, has two fundraisers coming up.

There’s a comedy night May 11th at the Laugh Lounge featuring Moody McCarthy from Jimmy Kimmel’s show ($20).  And on May 13th, at the McNally Jackson Bookstore in Soho, there’s an event featuring Gloria Steinem, Gail Collins of the New York Times and Daily Show creator Lizz Winstead ($25).  Click here for more information on the school’s predicament and the fundraising drive.

  1. Thanks for posting this and helping to spread the word. It’s more than a library – the librarian does so much classroom work with these kids and it’s such a valued resource.
