Grey Era Contemporary Vintage Debuts

Must Read

Grey Era - located at 435 E. 9th St.

Grey Era joins the eclectic roster of vintage shops along 9th Street. Specializing in contemporary vintage pieces from the late 80s and early 90s, the shop, at 435 East 9th Street between First and A, focuses on wardrobe staples inspired by Grunge-era Portland and Seattle. Owner Sierra Fromberg, a former stylist and publicist, offers a diverse selection of branded fisherman’s sweaters, flannels, silk tops and blouses, skirts, pants and boots in an array of styles, textures, colors and shapes. Fromberg emphasizes “seasonless dressing” and is inspired by androgynous layering.

“I want my customers to be able to come into the store and walk out with an outfit to wear across seasons.” She suggests starting with a pair of silk or cotton pants, adding a lightweight cotton sweater, then layering on a chunkier fisherman sweater. Silk long johns and wool socks help complete the outfit.

Fromberg features original pieces from The Gap and L.L. Bean, along with a few designer pieces.  Grey Era is open 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, Sunday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Closed on Mondays
