Today’s Lower East Side food news:
- Mathieu Palombino talks to the Village Voice about his new restaurant, the Bowery Diner. It will feature a very diverse menu, including smoked meats and (of course) an oyster bar. The place should open in about 30 days.
- There are a few LES tidbits in the Times’ fall restaurant preview. Akiko Thurnauer opens Family Recipe at 231 Eldridge. The intimate restaurant emphasizes dishes using local ingredients with Japanese flavors.
- The New Amsterdam Market returns to the Seaport this weekend.
- A few new food vendors join the Hester Street Fair this weekend, including Slant Jack Jerkey (beef jerkey) and Comfort Food Kitchen (cookies).
