The world famous French high-wire artist Philippe Petit, known for his daredevil trip between the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers in 1974, will present his first theatrical one-man show, Wireless! A Work in Progress, at the Abrons Arts Center on Thursday.
Petit’s book, To Reach The Clouds (re-titled Man On Wire in paperback), which recounts one of the most astounding “artistic crimes” of all time, is the subject of the brilliant Academy Award-winning documentary film, Man On Wire.
In the show, Petit promises to “reveal and demonstrate how he taught himself magic, juggling and the high wire. Mixing tales with drawings, audience participation, and even magic tricks, he shares his experience as a street juggler, pickpocket, writer, barn builder, bullfighter, and engineer.” Petit will be accompanied by J. Ralph, composer of the Oscar winning films Man On Wire and The Cove and the 2011 Sundance Grand Jury prize winning documentary, Hell And Back Again. The show will run for three nights only.
