We were on the scene Wednesday morning, as police recovered the weapon allegedly used to kill a man inside Stanton House, a transitional housing facility just east of Attorney Street.  They removed a bloody kitchen knife from a street-side trash can, but the suspect was still on the run.

Now the man accused of stabbing and killing a fellow resident in a drug-influenced rage is in custody. Police confirm Charles Meredith, 46, was arrested in the Bronx yesterday. He’s been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

The victim’s name has also been released. Fifty-year-old Stewart Rhodes was found in the lobby of the building run by Community Access at about 3:30 Wednesday morning. Rhodes was rushed to Beth Israel Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
