Finally, some sunshine! Look for a high of 81℉ today, and more of the same tomorrow and Friday. It’s a very busy night in the neighborhood. Community Board 3’s land use committee gathers to discuss the future of the Essex Street Market. The 5th Precinct Community Council holds its monthly meeting; we’ll be looking to see whether police address a controversial arrest in Columbus Park earlier this month. Also, preservation activists stage a “funeral” for 35 Cooper Square, the historic row house being demolished. And there will be a launch party for “Local Spokes,” a new Lower East Side/Chinatown bicycling coalition. Check out our Calendar for details on these and lots of other events.
