Scattered showers today with a high of 70. Thunderstorms possible through the week, but it’s going to be feeling a lot like summer. Look for a high in the low 80’s tomorrow. There’s lots happening ahead of the big Memorial Day holiday at the end of the week. Wednesday, Community Board 3 discusses the future of the Essex Street Market, which many residents fear is endangered by the evolving Seward Park redevelopment plan. Also Wednesday, there’s a regularly scheduled meeting at the 5th Precinct; a lot of people will be looking to see whether the controversial arrest of a man in Columbus Park will be addressed. And preservation activists are planning a rally at 35 Cooper Square, which is being demolished. For details on all of these events and more, check out our Community Calendar.
