Fresh Ginger Mural Makes Its Mark at 39 Canal Street

Must Read

Kavi Reddy, one of the partners of Fresh Ginger, Ginger Ale and a local LES resident, sent us her photos from last Sunday, where their latest campaign was popping up on the corner of Ludlow and Canal. Ginger ale connoisseur  Bruce Cost (author of Ginger East to West: A Cook’s Tour) started out on the West Coast over 20 years ago and has recently landed on the Lower East Side.

Reddy told us about the day’s events:

We were camped out at Les Enfant Terrible from nearly 10:30am to 9pm to talk to the police officers (they were actually very nice) and monitor the progress… It was a fun project: we got to meet so many of our neighbors and people visiting the LES. Various graffiti artists came by to chat and see it and later in the day the police officers would drive by to check on the progress, as others had told them they just had to see our wacky project. Highlights included a tour group stopping by; a group of adorable Chinese school kids; a mom explaining what graffiti was to a little kid; and a lady stopping her car to take a video and getting honked at!

She noted, “An Choi was the first place to take a chance on us and start carrying us in their restaurant.” Fresh Ginger will have a booth at the Hester Street Fair all summer, as well.
