Community Board 3’s May meeting agenda lists several items we wanted to call to your attention, including:
- A meeting of the SLA Policy Task Force on May 18th. As you might recall, CB3 approved new guidelines for evaluating liquor license requests. Now they have to come up with specific rules based on those guidelines.
- The May 11th Transportation/Public Safety Committee meeting, which will consider a request from the 7th Precinct to extend weekend evening “no parking zones.” Due to the large number of pedestrians and automobiles converging on the neighborhood’s bars and clubs, there’s already a restricted parking zone in effect along Ludlow Street, above Delancey. The precinct now wants to extend it to Broome Street. They also want “no parking” zones on the west side of Essex Street, from Houston to Delancey — and on the south side of Houston Street from Orchard to Ludlow.
- The Economic Development Committee session on May 3rd, which will look at “creating a CB 3 template for recommendations to Lower East Side Employment Network.” For background on this story, see the story we posted earlier this week.
For meeting locations and times, check out our Calendar or CB3’s web site (both of which will be updated to reflect May events in the next few days).
