Tom Judson Brings His Canned Ham Back to Dixon Place

Must Read

Tom Judson - Photograph by Hudson Wright

Beginning tomorrow, Broadway performer, legit film star and one-time gay adult film star, Tom Judson, will be back at Dixon Place with a month-long run of his hit show, Canned Ham. Judson certainly has some unique experience to bring to the one-man show, which was work-shopped at Dixon Place last fall and ran over the summer in Provincetown.  The piece is billed as “a theatrical memoir detailing Tom’s life in all areas of show business: acting in Broadway musicals (Cabaret, 42nd Street) composing music for film and television (Whit Stillman’s Metropolitan, Sesame Street) and the work for which he is probably most widely known, appearing in gay adult films as Gus Mattox.” In the show, he accompanies himself on the piano, the accordion, the trumpet and nine other instruments–sometimes simultaneously! The show has been well-received and has gotten quite a bit of good press. $15 (advance); $20 (door) // Thursdays – Saturdays, March 3-5, 17-19, 24-26 // 7:30pm // 161A Chrystie Street.
